Library fines during National Lockdown

About your library loans

University of Nottingham Libraries will not be charging library fines for any overdue items during the current National Lockdown period. Any fines accrued over the winter break from 3 December until 11 January will also be waived.

Your library loans will continue to auto-renew every day as normal unless they are requested by someone else. If this happens, we will email you to let you know your item has been recalled but you will not be charged overdue fines.

Book reservations remain active to provide access to print resources for those who have returned to our campuses following the latest Government guidance.

We recommend:

  • Using the return book boxes outside our libraries if you are already on campus
  • Using our postal returns service if you are off-campus and are able to visit a Post Office
  • Cancelling any requests on NUsearch you no longer need or are able to collect
  • Checking NUsearch for online versions of materials, before placing a request
  • Requesting scans of sections of print items available in our libraries (within copyright restrictions)

This helps us to provide those on campus with access to essential resources without increasing unnecessary journeys.

If you have any questions about your loans, please contact the Library Helpline by email, phone or Live Chat.
