When are the libraries open 24/7?
Three of our libraries are open 24/7 at key times to support your studies. The latest dates for the spring and summer terms are:
James Cameron-Gifford Library
- Monday 12 January - Thursday 4 June (excluding 3 - 6 April when the library will be closed)
Djanogly LRC and George Green Library
- Spring term: Monday 12 January - Thursday 5 March
- Summer term: Monday 20 April - Thursday 11 June
Don’t forget to bring your University Card or MyNottingham app for access at peak times.
Please note there may occasionally be short notice changes to opening times, please check the library pages for the latest hours before visiting.
Other 24/7 spaces
Alternative unstaffed 24/7 spaces that are open year-round are available across our campuses. You will need your University Card for access.
- Sutton Bonington - A Floor silent study space in James Cameron-Gifford Library and the computer rooms on B floor. Access is via the Main Building when the main library area is closed.
- Jubilee Campus - Computer room at the top of Djanogly LRC
- Medical School - A18 Computer Room outside the library
- University Park - 24/7 computer rooms are available.
What do I need to know about using libraries over vacation?
Visiting libraries
During the Easter vacation period (28 March - 27 April), there will be changes to library opening times. Some libraries will move to vacation opening hours and all libraries will be closed from 3 - 6 April (inclusive).
Please check the Libraries website for the latest opening times. See 'Other 24/7 spaces' above for details of available study space when libraries are closed.
If you want to visit a library at another university during the break, you can check whether they are participating in the SCONUL Access scheme. Please submit your application as soon as possible.
Your library loans
Before leaving for vacation, please:
- Return any books you have on loan that you no longer need.
- Cancel any book reservations you no longer need. You can do this on NUsearch.
Library staff can help you to cancel any reservations you no longer need. Contact us by email, phone or live chat.
During vacation:
- Any books on loan may be requested and will be due back within seven working days. Return books to any open library or by post to Hallward Library.
- We will email you to let you know when you need to return your books, so please check your email or NUsearch account regularly.
- There will be a £1 a day charge for late returns up to a maximum of £10 per item.
