Research Fellow, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences
Fadi obtained his Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences from Damascus University in 2006, and his PhD in Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design from the University of Nottingham in 2014 under the supervision of Professor Peter Fischer. He has then worked on various Med Chem / Drug Discovery related projects spanning from anticancer, antibacterials to antibiofilm agents.
He joined the National Biofilm Innovation Centre NBIC in January 2019 and is currently focusing on the management and detection of biofilm using Medicinal Chemistry tools and approaches. This includes virtual and HTS screening of compound libraries, design and synthesis of small molecules and hybrid and prodrugs with enhanced permeability profiles, and re-purposing of FDA approved drugs.
Fadi has developed his own area of research in the antimicrobial areas with national and international collaborators and interdisciplinary nature across Chemistry, Biology and Drug Delivery.
Fadi is also involved in the managment of the Managed Chemical Compound Collection located at the Biodiscovery Institute - University of Nottingham.
