N-Spine 2013

The Dissection Rooms recently hosted a series of cadaveric workshops as part of the Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery at the Queens Medical Centre conference N-Spine 2013. This year’s conference focussed on the thoraco-lumbar spine with workshops aimed at surgeons, medical professionals, allied health professionals and the public with an interest in spinal pathology.

The Surgical Skills Workshops held in the Dissection Rooms involved internationally recognised faculty and senior spinal surgeons/consultants delegates from locations as far afield as Jordan and the Lebanon, Indonesia, across Europe and various Trusts around the United Kingdom.

The Cadaveric courses involved anterior, lateral and anterolateral approaches to the lumbar and thoracic spine and osteotomies of the posterior thoracic and lumbar spine; approaches to the subaxial spine and specialist anterior approaches to the cervical vertebrae, thoracotomy and thoraco-abdominal approaches and anterior approaches to the lumbar spine. Saturday involved industry demonstrations sponsored by Ranier Technology, B:Braun, Globus Medical, Neurotechnics and Si-Bone.

Overall, N-Spine attracted over 450 delegates from various specialties to Nottingham and was an extremely successful event for all concerned. The Dissection Rooms particularly attracted the attention of both Globus Medical and Ranier Technology as their preferred site for Bioskills training within Europe.
