Along the line of rural innovation and sustainability in China and beyond, I have had experience/expertise in grassroots innovation and entrepreneurship, social capital for community/bottom-up development, empowerment of small farmers and cooperative development, government intervention and successful conditions, supply of seafarers for global markets, multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary research methodology for project design and delivery, university-community partnership for social impact and entrepreneurship training.

I have advised to: international shipping/Chinese authority on global seafaring regulation; ILO/IOM/EU/Italian government on new Chinese immigration and integration; Sichuan Provincial Government on potato industrialisation for poverty alleviation.

International shipping sector for global seafaring labour surveys and reports (cargo, cruise, Chinese seafarers' mobility, career development); James Hutton Ltd and partnership with Sichuan Xima ( for international potato seeds market). New industrial partnerships will be developed between UK and China in ecological agriculture, digital agriculture, financial inclusion, rural tourism and entrepreneurship training through Newton ECR Links grant project.
