My research expertise is within the realm of nanoparticulate drug delivery which essentially means using nanotechnology to formulate drug carriers for the purpose of enhancing their availability where needed in the body.

I am particularly interested in utilising natural materials in the construction of nanoparticulate carriers because of their 'acceptability' to biological systems. In this regard we have used chitosan, bees wax, cocoa butter, coconut oil etc to successfully construct nanoparticulate carriers for several therapeutic agents.

I also have expertise in formulating therapeutic agents from plant sources in nano-particulates for treating diseases like cancer and we are currently studying how the active constituent from turmeric (curcumin) can be packaged into a nanoparticle system in the treatment of colon cancer.
