The University of Nottingham has made the top 50 in an annual global ranking measuring universities performance on graduate employability.
Nottingham has entered in at number 45 in the Global Employability University Survey 2013-2014 out of a list of 150 global universities. Among the 20 UK universities named in the ranking, Nottingham is also in the top 10.
The list is compiled by French human resources consulting group Emerging Associates along with Trendence, a German polling and research institute.
It is based on responses from 2,700 recruiters in 20 countries, who were asked which of their local universities produced the best graduates.
Nalayini Thambar, Director of the Careers and Employability Service at the University, said: “To have made the top 50 in a list of global rankings such as this is a great achievement. It is testament to the calibre of students who are graduating from Nottingham and their international aspirations.
“Not only do students who are studying with us receive a first rate education, but we are also keen to help them develop their employment skills, vocational skills and a global outlook. We are particularly proud of our Nottingham Advantage Award, which is a scheme specifically run to enhance our students’ skills whilst studying for their degree.”
The Nottingham Advantage Award enables students to take extra-curricular modules alongside their academic studies, which build skills and experience in areas such as PR, finance and career planning through activities with the University’s Careers and Employability Service, Widening Participation and the Students’ Union.
The Nottingham Advantage Award is a key project within the University’s new appeal, Impact: The Nottingham Campaign, which is delivering the University’s vision to change lives, tackle global issues and shape the future. This is not the first time this year that Nottingham has been recognised for its employable graduates. The University was also cited as number two in the UK for finding graduate recruits according to a study by High Fliers Research, published in January 2013.
The report was based on research with the UK's 100 leading graduate employers including BP, the Civil Service, IBM, Goldman Sachs, PwC, Google and HSBC.
