For the perfect day out this summer, why not dine al fresco at the University of Nottingham’s award-winning University Park campus — at its annual Picnic in the Park event.
Picnic in the Park is an afternoon for the whole family to enjoy, and takes place between 12 and 3pm on Sunday 9 July at the Millennium Gardens on University Park.
As well as taking in the beautiful surroundings of one of the world’s greenest campuses, you’ll also be able to enjoy live music from Newstead Brass Band, and there will be face painting, rocket-making and a children’s nature quest trail.
Visitors can also find out more about the rich biodiversity of the campus by trying their hand at pond-dipping.
The University Grounds Manager Jamie Whitehouse, said: “We are immensely proud of University Park, and the beautiful grounds really are a draw for people when visiting. We are proud to invite people along to enjoy the picturesque settings in the sunshine and hope people will enjoy the activities we have arranged for them.”
The event is completely free to attend and all we ask is that you bring your own picnic! Parking is also free. Refreshments will be available and the nearby Orchard Hotel has a bar and restaurant.
Visitors can also extend the day with a visit to the exhibitions and café at Nottingham Lakeside Arts, which overlooks Highfields Park Boating Lake and has an adventure playground.
Picnic in the Park takes place in Millennium Gardens, off Lenton Drive, University Park, Nottingham, NG7 2RD. Use any campus entrance and follow signs to the ‘park event.’
