Peripheral Nervous System Examination
Assessment of Tone of the Upper and Lower Limbs
Passively move all major joints to assess the resting muscle tone.
Increased tone is hyertonia.
Example of this include:
- Rigid/"lead pipe" quality
- Spasticity / "clasp knife effect"
- Clonus
- Deceared tone is hypotonia, this is also known as flaccidity.
