Europe Postgraduate Excellence Award

Tuition fee scholarship of £4,000 or £8,000 for masters students from across Europe

The application deadline has now passed

Unlock your potential with our Europe Postgraduate Excellence Award, covering £4,000 or £8,000 towards tuition fees.

We're offering scholarships towards full-time masters tuition fees for high-achieving students who live in Europe.

Eligibility

To apply for this scholarship, you must:

  • be domiciled in one of the European countries listed below
  • be classed as an overseas student for fee purposes
  • hold an offer to start a full-time masters (including MRes) in any subject area at the University of Nottingham UK in September or October 2021

If your fee status is currently recorded as European Union, you will be reassessed as either an 'overseas' (international) student or a 'home' (UK) student in the next few weeks. There will not be a separate EU fee status in 2021-22. You can apply for this scholarship now, but it will only be awarded to students who are assessed as 'overseas' for fees purposes.

Eligible countries

Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland

If you're in an East European country that isn't listed above, you may be eligible for the CIS Postgraduate Excellence Award instead.

If you are domiciled in an eligible country but have a different nationality, you may not see this scholarship displayed in MyNottingham. In this case, email the scholarships team on scholarship-assistant@nottingham.ac.uk to enable your application. You should apply for our regional excellence awards based on your country of domicile rather than your nationality – unless you are studying in the UK, in which case you should apply for the UK International Postgraduate Excellence Award.

How to apply

You must apply for and receive an offer to study a full-time masters (including MRes) at the University of Nottingham before applying for this scholarship. Search for courses and find out how to apply.

Once you have received your offer for a taught masters course, you can apply for this scholarship through the scholarships section of MyNottingham.

If you have an offer for an MRes course, email the scholarships team on scholarship-assistant@nottingham.ac.uk for instructions on how to apply.

Applications close at midnight (UK time) on Friday 21 May 2021.

Application criteria

You will need to answer questions about your achievements, study plans and reasons for choosing to study at the University of Nottingham. Make sure you have enough time to prepare strong answers. We will assess your responses and academic merit when making scholarship decisions.

Scholarship requirements

Scholarships will only be awarded to students who accept their offer to study with us. You do not need to respond to your offer before applying for this scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded after assessing all scholarship applications and you may be offered a scholarship of either £4,000 or £8,000. We will contact you in early July 2021 to confirm the outcome of your application.

If you are awarded this scholarship, it will be deducted from the tuition fees charged to you as a student at the University of Nottingham. We will not pay tuition fee scholarships to you directly.

This award cannot be combined with another University of Nottingham regional scholarship or an International Sporting Excellence Award. However, you may also be able to receive a subject scholarship from your academic school, a sports scholarship package, or an external scholarship from your country, where the combined total does not exceed 100% of tuition fees. This could include, for example, an award from Nottingham University Business School and/or the government or other funding body in your country.

Winning this scholarship was a great honour as for me it meant a recognition of my attainments so far, as well as an affirmation of my choice for further studies.
