Asian hate crime in UK increases during pandemic

People of East and South East Asian backgrounds have told EMT how very “hurt and upset” they felt by incidents of hate crime since the start of the pandemic. 

Reporter Navtej Johal talks to academics Hongwei Bao and Li Shean Toh, who recount just a few of their experiences.

 

Nottinghamshire Police figures show there was a sharp increase in reported incidents of hate crime against people of Chinese and East Asian background.
