Ali Rafati

Ali Rafati won the Seah Award for best overall presentation from the UK Surface Analysis Forum in their Young Surface Analyst of the Year Competition. His talk and poster entitled “Visualisation of protein and surfactant distribution in PLGA microspheres” described a full characterisation of drug delivery microspheres which have applications in protein therapeutics, e.g. to treat degenerative bone conditions. Ali is in the final year of his PhD within the LBSA and is sponsored by the BBSRC with support from National Physical Laboratory. This work is part of a multidisciplinary collaboration with the Tissue Engineering Group within the School and Molecular Profiles Ltd.
