I studied Pharmacology at King's College London, graduating with an MSci in Integrated Pharmacology and Physiology for Research. During this masters programme, I undertook a placement at GlaxoSmithKline working in their in vivo drug delivery group.
After learning various skills and techniques necessary for preclinical development of compounds, I was offered a position specializing in the BATA model. This platform assesses the palatability of a potential new medicine; highlighting and addressing these issues early on reduces the likelihood of noncompliance when given to patients.
This experience led me to apply for the CDT program at School of Pharmacy, where I wanted to continue to work on palatability and be a part of researching novel taste-masking approaches.

I am currently working on furthering our understanding of excipients used in paediatric medicines. My PhD is focussing on two aspects; firstly I am investigating if taste-modifying excipients can be successfully used to improve the palatability of poor tasting paediatric drugs and secondly, if commonly used excipients have the ability to alter the bioavailability of the concomitantly administered pharmaceutical. It is known in adults that a number of excipients can do this by influencing small intestine transit time but little is known about specific effects in children.
