International Conference on Low Dimensional Structures and Devices 2016

The School is pleased to announce that Prof Mohamed Henini (Nottingham) and Prof Isaac Hernandez (CINVESTAV, Mexico) will jointly chair the eighth International Conference on Low Dimensional Structures and Devices (LDSD) later this year. The conference will take place in Paraiso Beach - Mayan Riviera / Mexican Caribbean – Mexico on August 28 – September 02, 2016.

International Physics Tournament 2016 Success

Description
Congratulation to physics students Michael Wilson, David Collomb, Luc Magwood, Connor Pettitt, and team leader Thomas Flynn on a brilliant 6th place (out of 15) in the IPT 2016. The team, the only representatives from the UK, competed in the final in Paris on Friday 22nd April.

The School of Physics secures UK access to the European Magnetic Field Laboratory (EMFL)

Description
Prof Amalia Patane, president of the EMFL user committee and Professor of Physics at Nottingham, has secured 3.9M Euros of EPSRC funding to secure 5 year's access for the UK research community to the European Magnetic Field Laboratory.

Prof Peter Morris awarded CBE

Hearty congratulations to Professor Peter Morris, Director of the Sir Peter Mansfield Magnetic Resonance Centre, who has been awarded a CBE for services to science and medicine, in particular his work on Magnetic Resonance Imaging technology, in the Queen's New Year Honours List.

Newton "Researcher Links" workshop on 2D Material Systems
