Biography

Cees van der Eijk is Professor of Social Science Research Methods at the University of Nottingham. Until 2004 he was Professor of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam. His research deals with, on the one hand, social science research methods, and, on the other, substantive social research. His substantive research interests are in the fields of comparative political behaviour, in particular the interrelationships between citizens/voters, parties/political entrepreneurs, and media. Van der Eijk has been involved as PI or CoI in national election studies in the Netherlands and the UK, and in the EU-wide European Elections Studies (see: www.europeanelectionstudies.net), and in a variety of other research projects financed by, amongst others, the ESRC, NWO (NL), and the EU. He recently directed a work package on Data Communities in the EU-funded project SSHOC (Social Sciences and Humanities Open Cloud).
