Fellowship with UK Parliamentary Office for Science and Technology

Professor Andrew Mumford has recently started a 12-month fellowship with the UK Parliamentary Office for Science and Technology, funded by the ESRC Impact Fund. During the fellowship, he will work with policymakers and civil servants on the following tasks:

  • To identify the policy issues/problems related to contemporary British security, defence and foreign policy issues, by undertaking reviews of policy related literature.
  • To assess the evidence available, through a systematic review of the material collected.
  • To help formulate a detailed and robust Integrated Security, Defence and Foreign Policy Review. Dr Mumford will assist in imparting understanding of how the government generates and uses its defence, security, diplomacy and development capabilities to deliver its policy goals.
  • Finally, to assist parliamentary committees implement the recommendations of the review.

The fellowship will expand the school’s knowledge exchange and impact activities with parliamentary bodies in the field of national and international security.
