Professor Sue Arrowsmith to record a celebratory message for the anniversaries of the WTO Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA)

The Government Procurement Agreement of the World Trade Organization (WTO) is this year celebrating its 25th anniversary, and it is also in the same year the 40th anniversary of the original GPA, concluded under the auspices of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). The GPA provides a framework for promoting trade and good governance in public procurement in countries around the world, not only among its signatory Parties but also in many other countries, providing a model for both trade agreements and internal reforms.

To celebrate these dual anniversaries the WTO invited some key members of the GPA community to record some short "Happy Birthday" video messages highlighting the GPA. One of the invited experts was Professor Sue Arrowsmith, who has contributed extensively over the years to the WTO’s technical assistance programme and Academies, designed to assist Member States in participating in the GPA and in reforming their domestic procurement systems.

Professor Arrowsmith’s video message can be found on the WTO website, in the section “Academic Experts”, along with messages from four other leading academics from around the world, Steven Schooner, Sope Williams-Elegbe, Kamala Dawar and Bernard Hoekman.
