Biography

Originally from Greece, I moved to the UK to complete my BSc in Psychology at Kingston University, London where I graduated top of my class in 2014. Following this, I completed my PhD in cognitive development at the University of Bristol under the supervision of Prof Christopher Jarrold. I have been an academic member of staff in the School of Psychology, UoN since 2018.

Expertise Summary

My PhD research focused on Enactment (i.e. action memory) within a Working Memory context. As part of this, I worked with both children and adults to better understand the underlying mechanisms of the enactment effect and its development. More generally, I am very interested in topics related to working memory, problem solving and embodied cognition.

My pedagogical research is related to EDI matters and my current focus is on embedding cultural diversity in the curriculum. I am interested in cultural differences in academic teaching and learning, and more generally in higher education experiences across cultures.

Research Summary

Pedagogical Research

Leading an initiative on Embedding Cultural Diversity in the Curriculum (ECDC). Current projects focus on:

1. Exploring student and staff attitudes towards teaching & learning and ways of increasing cultural representation in our teaching across cultures.

2. Student-staff partnerships aiming to review the existing curriculum and drive positive change in terms of culturally diversifying our curriculum.

3. Embedding cultural diversity in the curriculum using an active learning approach.

I use a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods to study these topics.

My current research focuses on the enactment effect, binding and working memory.
