Current Research

My research primarily focuses on gambling and other addictive behaviours, particularly on the interplay between new technologies (e.g. social media, mobile gambling, smartphones) and mental health. My gambling research has centred on the emergence of mobile gambling, the measurement of gambling harms and gambling disorder, and how gamblers and gambling companies use social media. I've recently began working on smartphone addiction, as an area that is drawing increasing albeit disputed attention as a potential cause for public health concern.
