Thomas Alcock

Postdoctoral Researcher at the Technical University of Munich

Email: thomas.alcock@tum.de

Thomas completed his PhD in Plant Sciences at the University of Nottingham before going on to perform his first postdoctoral projects with the Future Food Beacon. Now based at the Technical University of Munich, he is focussed on understanding the molecular and genetic basis of nutrient uptake in Brassica crops. By optimising elemental accumulation in crop tissue, we can seek to increase crop productivity, boost dietary intakes of plant-sourced nutrients by humans and animals and limit concentrations of toxic elements.

Additionally, Thomas has ongoing work quantifying the environmental sustainability of the world’s major oil crops. He has previously engaged in research and capacity strengthening projects in Brazil and Benin.
