Dr Gopaulchan’s research is focused on understanding cadmium absorption and sequestration in cacao. His research aims to provide plant breeders with genetic and physiological markers that can predict cadmium accumulation in cacao. He works to identify cadmium-sequestering or cadmium-excluding rootstocks that can be used in high cadmium soils. Before joining the University of Nottingham, David was a Research Fellow at the Cocoa Research Centre in Trinidad.
