Tatiana Chavez

Research Analyst at the Centro de Biotecnologia, Ecuador (CIBE) (Biotechnology Research Centre of Ecuador). She was an International Fellow at the Future Food Beacon in 2019.

Dr Chavez works in the molecular biology laboratory at the Centro de Biotecnologia, Ecuador (CIBE). She researches the analysis of the expression of genes related to plant-pathogen and plant-biofertilizer interactions. Her research has always been focused on molecular biology and genetic engineering in plants, including banana, coffee and cocoa. She also works with cacao, focusing on cadmium absorption.

During her time at The Future Food Beacon, Dr Chavez concentrated on the question of cadmium uptake in cocoa.
