Matthew Loose Beacon Future Food2

Professor Matthew Loose

Professor of Developmental and Computational Biology

Email: matt.loose@nottingham.ac.uk

Matt is a member of the Future Food leadership team. His laboratory focusses on how cells are programmed to different phenotypes. His research team uses a variety of approaches, including in vivo, in vitro and in silico methods. Matt’s laboratory has developed tools to explore gene regulatory networks (GRN).

Matt works extensively at Deep Seq, the University of Nottingham’s high-throughput genomics facility, which the Future Food Beacon has invested in. Deep Seq quickly became part of the COVID-19 Genomics UK Consortium in March 2020 and began sequencing SARS-CoV-2 genomes. However, Matt and Deep Seq have managed to continue to support diverse Future Food Beacon projects throughout.
