Aneesh is a PhD candidate with the Palaeobenchmarking Resilient Agricultural Systems project. Aneesh was born and raised in Pune, an education hub in the West Midlands of India. During his childhood, he became interested in biology due to the influence of stalwarts such as Sir David Attenborough and Steve Irwin. As both his parents are engineers, he was also interested in technology and its applications. This combination of interests led him to pursue an education in Biotechnology. Aneesh’s PhD project revolves around understanding the genetic factors involved in heat tolerance of plant roots. He will dissect the mechanisms behind heat tolerance in rice roots which could result in better heat tolerant varieties in the future.
