Dr Flis dedicates her time and scientific passion to the field of ionomics. She supports other researchers to perform elemental phenotyping. She is also working on the development of new approaches to studying the plant ionome, with the main focus on cell-type specific and single cell ionome.

Previously, Dr Flis was a Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham and University of Aberdeen, working on the development of new approaches to studying the plant root ionome at the cell-type specific level. She completed her PhD in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Pau and Pays de l'Adour/ CNRS in France, working in the field of metallomics, where she used analytical techniques and developed methodologies to study metal speciation in plant fluids.
