Chloe is a PhD candidate in the International Agriculture DTP.

Chloe’s research project is titled 'Risk assessment of sub-lethal insecticide exposure: new biomarkers and metrics in bees'Chloe’s current research is focused on understanding how pesticides affect mitochondrial bioenergetics in the bumble bee, B. terrestris. Between 1980 – 2013 a third of wild pollinators, including bumble bees and solitary bees, have declined in the UK. Reasons for these declines include loss of habitat, climate change, parasitic infections, and agricultural intensification which has led to an increase in pesticide use. The loss of bees is not only detrimental to global food security but has huge economic consequences in the agricultural industry. Chloe is supervised by Dr Reinhard Stoger, Professor Ian Hardy and Dr Lisa Chakrabarti (University of Nottingham) as well as Professor Emyr Davies (Rothamsted Research).
