Commercial Law Centre talk by Mr David Barnard

Location
B55, Law and Social Sciences, University Park
Date(s)
Wednesday 11th March 2020 (16:00-17:24)
Description

On 11 March, one of our undergraduate students, Mr David Barnard, will be giving a talk on the Supreme Court decision in The Longchamp (2017).

This case concerned the law of general average in the context of Somali pirates who hijacked the vessel and proceeded to demand a ransom of US$6 million. The case considered whether the expenses incurred in the period of negotiations were subject to contribution from other interests in the maritime adventure. The talk shall examine the legal arguments at each stage, the Supreme Court decision, and potential practical and legal issues which may arise due to the majority's reasoning.

You are warmly invited to attend this talk which is organised by the University of Nottingham Commercial Law Centre. If you would like to attend this talk, please confirm your attendance by emailing Ms Kobie Neita.
