Description
This year is the thousandth anniversary of the accession of the Danish viking, Cnut, to the throne of England (he was also king of Denmark and briefly of Norway). Like his successors many centuries later, he employed poets to spread the word about his achievements, sing his praises, or just to entertain his followers. Come along to this event to find out about Cnut's poets and compare them with more recent poets laureate in the Romantic period and the present day.
