Description
The Centre for the Study of the Viking Age at the University of Nottingham curated an exhibition about the Vikings in the East Midlands over the past winter. The project had the subtitle ‘Bringing Vikings back to the East Midlands’. This lecture by University of Nottingham Cultural Engagement Fellow Dr Roderick Dale will engage with that title and the objects displayed in the exhibition to show how the Vikings never really left. It will discuss how the East Midlands would not exist in the form it does now without the Vikings, and will show the many ways in which Viking influence has shaped the various East Midlands identities
