George Green Institute for Electromagnetics Research

Members of the GGIEMR have between them over 100 years of experience in the development of bespoke electromagnetics simulation tools for photonics simulation; their work embraces analytic, semi-analytical and numerical tools.

Considerable experience of working with industry has been gained, not least through the Bookham Technology Centre of Excellence in Optoelectronic Simulation (2000-06).

Optics

Which developed leading-edge simulation tools for complex optoelectronic components, and delivered sophisticated research-led designs and design software, training and expertise.

Our capability and skills include materials modelling for linear and non-linear problems, laser modelling, coupled domain multi-scale multi-physics problems, the exploitation of large scale computing and model validation. The considerable modelling and simulation know-how is augmented by experimental work which embraces III-V semiconductors, silicon photonics and the realisation of light sources, sensors and other components for the mid-Infrared based on chalcogenide glasses.
