Chijioke was born in the eastern part of Nigeria and gained his bachelor's degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) in 2006. He further completed his MSc in wireless networks from the Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) in 2009. He was offered an EPSRC scholarship for his PhD at the University of Nottingham George Green Institute for Electromagnetics (GGIEMR) group, primarily working with Prof Dave Thomas and Dr Angela Nothofer, on the development of analytical models for characterizing the electromagnetic emissions from practical PCBs.
Toward the end of his PhD program, Chijioke joined Bombardier Derby as an EMC engineer, where he gained experience in carrying out radiated EMC measurements for new and re-furbished rolling stocks in accordance with EN 50121-3-1 standard. He also supported the team by developing various analytical models for assessing the EMC performance of rolling stocks and traction systems. Later joining Atkins, he worked as a systems engineer and managed various EMC assurance activities for a number of different railway electrification projects such as Crossrail, ensuring compliance with the EMC Directive.
He is presently a senior EMC and traction power engineer at Mott MacDonald, and has been involved in developing different innovative solutions for EMC in railway and other environments that comprise the integration of systems. He is a senior member of IEEE with a number of his works peer-reviewed and published with the IEEE.
Chijioke is married and presently based in London. He is passionate about research and the development of innovative solutions for ensuring EMC as the railway environment increases in complexity and as reliance on automated systems by most industries continues to grow.
