Your quit day and after

 

What do I need to do on and after my quit date?

 

  • Put your patch on and take a deep breath, this is your new start – no more smoking!
  • Remember the positive reasons for stopping smoking
  • Make sure there are no cigarettes or ashtrays around
  • Avoid places where people smoke
  • Tell your family and friends so they support you and do not tempt you to smoke

 

Manage your cravings by:

 

  • Staying busy
  • Thinking about something else
  • Taking a few slow, deep breaths
  • Going for a walk or to another room
  • Having a drink of water or chew gum
  • Talking to a friend
  • Changing your routines and avoid situations that make you want to smoke
  • Remember to engage with the stop smoking support available to you
