
The University of Nottingham's rowing team showcased their prowess at the 2024 British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Rowing Regatta held from 4th to 6th May at nearby Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham. Amidst stiff competition from athletes representing universities from up and down the country, Nottingham rowers secured notable victories and commendable final standings, marking an impressive display of skill and determination from everyone in the University of Nottingham Boat Club.
In the spotlight were several outstanding individuals who clinched podium positions in their respective categories, including a gold medal for Lucas Salmon and Nathaniel Dawson. Here's a full recap of the medals earned by #GreenandGold athletes;
1st place: Open Championship Lightweightt 2x - Lucas Salmon and Nathaniel Dawson
2nd place: Open Championship Lightweight 1x - Lucas Salmon
2nd place: Open Intermediate 1x - Dylan James
2nd place: Women's Beginner 1x - Ella Weeks
2nd place: Women's Intermediate Lightweight 4x - Kirsty Dalzell, Eve Strong, Niamh Cunningham, and Tess O’Donnell
3rd place: Women's Championship Lightweight 4- - Kirsty Dalzell, Sinead Kirk, Niamh Cunningham, and Tess O’Donnell
The University of Nottingham's collective effort led to an impressive 9th place finish in the Victor Ludorum, with the men's team securing 7th place and the women's team achieving 11th place. This achievement underscores the dedication and talent present within the University of Nottingham rowing community. We congratulate everyone involved for their efforts across the three day regatta.
Expressing gratitude, a spokesperson for the team highlighted the invaluable support received from physio students, stakeboat volunteers, and numerous supporters throughout the event. They also extended appreciation to the University of Nottingham Boat Club coaches for their unwavering commitment and guidance.
Looking ahead, the team gears up for upcoming challenges including the Henley Women’s Regatta, Metropolitan Regatta, Marlow Regatta, and the Henley Royal Regatta promising further excitement and achievements on the horizon.
