Yesterday the England Football Ladies, Lionesses, visited David Ross Sports Village to recover after their victory against Brazil on Saturday.
This was a great start to England’s 2019 FIFA World Cup preparations – and the pre-tournament warm-up games are coming thick and fast!
First up was a meeting with Brazil, ranked 8th in the world, at Notts County’s Meadow Lane ground on Saturday. Here Fran Kirby scored within the first two minutes to take the lead and score the winning goal. Full time score was 1:0 to England.
After the victory, the girls stayed in Nottingham to visit David Ross Sports Village on Sunday where they recovered from the game in the state-of-the-art facilities. They participated in sessions in the High Performance Zone as well as the hydrotherapy pool within the Sports Injury Clinic.
The girls also showed solidarity with University of Nottingham Sport showing a red card to racism, the UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity which host wear red day on Friday 19th October.
After leaving the David Ross Sports Village, the Lionesses headed to the capital for the first time since 2014 where they will face Australia under the floodlights at Craven Cottage, the home of Fulham, on Tuesday 9 October.
