Spotlight on ...
Zahra Murad is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth. She was a PhD candidate at Nottingham, under the supervision of Professors Chris Starmer and Martin Sefton. Her thesis was entitled, “Experiments on Confidence Calibration and Decision Making”.
After graduating in 2015 she worked as a Research Fellow leading the work package on "Behavioral Economics" for a Leverhulme funded project - Delivering Better for Less: Improving Productivity and Motivation in Public Sector at the University of Surrey. She was part of a team establishing the University of Surrey Business and Economics (USBEE) Lab. She then moved to University of Portsmouth in 2017.
Zahra has continued to work with colleagues from CeDEx on a number of ongoing projects - including with former CeDEx members Lingbo Huang, Hande Erkut and Leonie Gerhards. She also continues her work with Chris Starmer and plans to run more experiments at CeDEx. You can find out more about Zahra on her personal website.
“My main research interest is behavioural economics and the economics of decision making. I have looked at how confidence evolves as people receive feedback, how groups and individuals differ in their confidence beliefs, and how gender biases manifest themselves in labour market situations."
