Current Research

Richard is currently working on a 'Theology of mind' based on a study of New Testament texts. During his study leave in the Autumn semester of 2009-10 he plans to consider this further in the light of 'transcendental idealism' (Kant and Schopenhauer) and consider implications for questions of space, time and causality. Finally he hopes to relate this to some of the philosophical and theological problems raised by Relativity and Quantum Theory.

Past Research

My past research has focussed on the Theology of Paul with special reference to justification, Israel and atonement. My last book (Deliver us from Evil) was concerned with interpreting the redemption from the power of Satan in New Testament Theology and included an extensive development of a theory of myth.
