Research

Established over 50 years ago, we are one of the leading departments of Theology and Religious Studies in the UK, and incorporate the Centre for Theology and Philosophy. Our research expertise spans a wide range of areas; all our academic staff have international recognition in their fields.

Much of the work carried out in the Department is interdisciplinary, engaging with history, literature, philosophy, critical theory, politics, economics and natural science. The result is a very lively culture of discussion and creativity which contributes towards setting the future agenda for theological reflection.
