Field work and field trips

First-hand looking is vital to good art history.

Studying onsite allows you to:

  • observe aspects of works of art that are not visible in slides
  • discover and explore archival collections
  • see art and architecture in context and from all angles
  • study the display and presentation of art works
  • develop key observation and analytical skills in front of art works.
