Research in Cultural, Media and Visual Studies

Our research spans subjects, centuries and continents. From Renaissance Italian art to current Chinese queer cinema we observe, interrogate and challenge to change and improve the world around us. We have a strong transnational outlook and interdisciplinarity at our heart. We cross disciplines, institutions and cultures to have a positive impact on all our lives.

90% of our research environment has been recognised as of world leading quality and 100% of our impact case studies have been recognized as having outstanding or very considerable impact in REF2021.
