Nottingham Institute for Research in Visual Culture

The Department of Art History houses the prestigious Nottingham Institute for Research in Visual Culture (NIRVC) which is a focus for conferences and seminars that bring together staff and students from across the University, creating an active research culture with national and international connections.

The Nottingham Institute for Research in Visual Culture is a forum for research in art-historical and visual culture studies, drawing on a range of disciplines, within and beyond the university.

NIRVC was established in collaboration with the Djanogly Art Gallery, the Institute of Film and Television Studies, and the Postgraduate School of Critical Theory and Cultural Studies. The Institute's activities primarily reflect the variety of research emanating from members of the Department of Art History and their links to other institutions, researchers, and research networks.

NIRVC is supported by The University of Nottingham Research Fund and the School of Humanities.
