Art History society
Who we are
The Art History Society prides itself by enhancing your degree, whilst also giving you the opportunity to meet different, like-minded people, of different years and courses. Our aim is to bring together students of different ages, backgrounds and interests, who have a common interest in Art History. As a society we will offer a wide range of events and activities, in order to ensure that all our members and potential members are part of a society that works for them. We hope to maintain a position as a current, inclusive and creative society whose events develop its members' academic lives.
What we do
Our aim over the next year is to give the society more of a presence within the department, in order to ensure that your society is something that works alongside your degree.
The society will be setting up various artist ‘talks’ and seminars, and working with lecturers in the department to relate these to ongoing modules, in order to build on the knowledge you are gaining within lectures and seminars. Another important part of the society is its ability to develop your study of art history beyond the degree programme.
The society will be committed to running a variety of visits to historic houses, galleries and museums, in order to give you opportunities to develop your thinking and passion for your degree. We aim for the society to act as a kind of ‘hub’, where each member can share ideas on exhibitions and places of interest.
Alongside this, we will also be running weekly events such as our coffee mornings, which will act as a place for any and all members to voice any queries they have within a relaxed environment, as well as weekly meetings available for any society members to attend and suggest any ideas or opinions on what they would like the society to be doing.
