Seminar in Animal Sciences
13:00-14:00 A17 Plant Sciences
Thursday 04 May
Dr Cormac O’Shea
(newly appointed Associate Professor in Non-Ruminant Animal Science)
Title: Applying lessons from One Health to monogastric science: Tales from a One Hen perspective
Cormac has a wide range of research interests in pig and poultry science.
He has a PhD in pig nutrition from University College Dublin.
In postdoctoral fellowships he studied the role of marine-derived polysaccharides in gut function, and developed animal models of inflammation and infection relevant to both human disease and food animal production.
He joins us from the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney where he is a Lecturer in Poultry Science.
Current research is on health and productivity challenges facing the intensive broiler and laying hen industries, including alternatives to antibiotics, variation in feed efficiency, and nutritional solutions for various stressors in animals including infectious disease challenges and heat stress
Cormac is keen to collaborate with lots of people, so please come along and hear what he has to say.
