Managing the Human Resource

Module Content:
An introduction to the 'high commitment' approaches to HRM and the link between HRM and business strategy. Critical evaluation of selected HR practice areas such as: team working, recruitment and selection, performance related pay, training, equal opportunities.

Module Aims:
The aim of this module is to examine a number of topics in the field of human resource management from the point of view of both theory and practice. By making extensive use of research evidence, the module aims to highlight to managers the problems and dilemmas that can frequently emerge in the implementation of human resource practices.

Module Assessment:
Coursework Assignment of 3000 words (50%); Exam (50%)
