Entrepreneurship and Creativity
Module Convenor: Chris Mahon
Module Content: Entrepreneurship is now seen as a positive force for economic development in virtually all economies, yet there is no clear consensus as to what it is or how it is manifested. This course sets out to identify entrepreneurship in theory and its economic contribution, positive and negative, in practice. Finally, it considers whether policy intervention can encourage entrepreneurship activity and if so, how this may best be achieved.
Module Aims: This course is designed to provide an insight into the nature and identity of entrepreneurship as it has been perceived by others, along with an exploration of students' own entrepreneurial potential. As such, it focuses on two main themes. The first involves an objective analysis of entrepreneurship in theory, practice and policy. The second encourages students to investigate and experience the processes involved in creativity, alongside the generation and assessment of entrepreneurial ideas.
Module Assessment: 2 hour examination (50%); Individual Report (2,000 words) (35%); Group Presentation (15%)
