University of Nottingham ranks among top 100 in 2024 QS World University Rankings

The University of Nottingham has been named among the top 100 universities globally, according to the twentieth edition of the world’s most-consulted university rankings.

The 2024 QS World University Rankings, released on 27 June by global higher education analyst QS Quacquarelli Symonds, see the University of Nottingham placed 100 in the world and 17 in the United Kingdom.

Biggest ever ranking by QS

This year’s QS World University Rankings is the largest ever, with 1,500 institutions across 104 locations, including 91 in the UK.

The University of Nottingham performed among the top 7% of global universities.

To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the ranking, QS has introduced three new metrics that reflect the growth in data availability and the changing priorities of students and society:

  • Sustainability
  • Employment outcomes
  • International research network

Nottingham performed particularly well in the measure of International Research Network, at 18 globally.

QS are the only major global ranking to emphasise the importance of employability in their methodology. In the 2024 ranking, the Employer Reputation metric weighting has increased to 15%, while an additional Employment Outcomes metric is weighted at 5%.
