Nottingham University Business School Scholarships - Now Closed


The School is offering the following scholarships to full time PhD students for the 2012-13 session:

  • Up to six full-time Scholarships covering full tuition fees as well as tax-free living expenses of £13,590 per year (estimated ESRC rate for 2012-13).

    In addition, the Agnes Hempsell Fund is donating one full-time PhD scholarship for the 2012-13 session for research in the area of insurance (including risk management related to insurance). The scholarship will cover full tuition fees (at the Home/EU rate) as well as tax-free living expenses of £13,590 (estimated ESRC rate for 2012-13).     All scholarships are available to both Home/EU and overseas students.

    Students who want to be considered for any of the above mentioned scholarships, must submit their application by 30th March 2012 at the latest.

    Please note that applications for these Scholarships will be disregarded unless you have indicated, in the personal details section of the online application form or section 3 on the hardcopy postgraduate application form, where it asks 'how do you expect to pay for your studies' that you wish to be considered, i.e. you need to state 'NUBS Scholarship applicant'. School Scholarship applications will be evaluated on the basis of former qualifications, academic background, references and research proposal. All of the required documentation in relation to this must be submitted to us by the deadline.

The International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility at Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) is offering a PhD studentship covering full tuition fees as well as tax-free living expenses of £ 13,590 + £3,000 enhancement (provided by BITC) per year for a period of up to three years and up to £1,000 annually to cover agreed research expenses. The lead academic supervisor is Dr Wendy Chapple (Associate Professor in Industrial Economics, ICCSR) supported by Dr Christian Herzig (Lecturer in Sustainability Accounting and Reporting, ICCSR).

Candidates should have a good Honours degree in a relevant discipline, and have, or expect to have by autumn 2012, a Masters qualification from an ESRC recognised research training course or a Masters degree which includes a substantial research element or equivalent research experience in a work setting. It is likely that the project will require both qualitative and quantitative research skills. The studentship is open to Home/EU candidates only and will begin in October 2012.

University and Other Research Council Scholarships - Home/European Union Students

ESRC DTC Scholarships - Now Closed
The University was recently successful in being chosen by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) as one of only 21 Doctoral Training Centres accredited nationally. Over the next 5 years the new training centre will receive around £6 million from the ESRC, which will be used to fully fund PhD Studentships across the social sciences, including Business and Management.

The ERSC DTC Scholarships are open to Home/ EU applicants and will cover full tuition fees as well as tax-free living expenses of £13,590 per year. The application form and guidelines are available at: http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/esrc-dtc/funding-application/index.aspx.

The Business School's internal deadline for applications is 1st March 2012. Short-listed applications will then be submitted by the Faculty of Social Science deadline 15th March 2012. Vice Chancellor's Scholarship for Research Excellence (European Union)

30 Full Tuition Fee Scholarships, including a £8,400 stipend per annum. These Scholarships are open to applicants who have an offer for a full-time Research degree programme AND who are classed as a European Union (non UK) student for fee purposes. Vice Chancellor's Scholarship for Research Excellence (International) - Now Closed

The University is offering up to 50 full tuition fee scholarships for international students. The closing date is 9th March 2012. Further information is available at University Scholarships.


China Scholarship Council Scholarship for Research - Now Closed

The International Office will be offering 10 full tuition and stipend scholarships in association with the China Scholarship Council. The China Scholarship Council Research Excellence Scholarship will close for applications on Friday 24 February.


University of Nottingham Alumni
