Advantage Award banner

The Nottingham Advantage Award is the university’s free employability scheme that helps you prepare for the job market by developing the skills employers look for in new recruits.

With a variety of online and face-to-face modules from buddying and coding to transitioning into the workplace and volunteering, you’re certain to find something that will spark your interest. The Award is designed to fit around your studies.

With more than 2,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students on the Award, it’s certainly popular and the benefits are clear – just read Alex's blog.

Five reasons to take part in the Award

1

Broaden your interests and meet new people by choosing a module that’s completely different from your degree

2

Access unique opportunities such as working on a project with Capital One and Enterprise Rent-A Car, or gain a placement within the cultural sector

3

Collaborate with your peers on cross-discipline projects, for example, engineers, medics and arts students designing a device for people who struggle with daily tasks

4

Reflect on the skills developed and experience gained during your modules, and learn how to articulate them for success during the job and internship recruitment process

5

Gain formal recognition for an activity you’re already involved in, for example, a part-time job

Alexander Paszkowicz
During my time at Nonsuch Studios, I learnt transferable skills I can take with me into whatever career path I choose. A strong company ethos motivates me and will be something I consider when I next start a new job. Self-reflection increased my productivity, and I look forward to continuing to learn unique and valuable skills.
