Emily Smith, manager of the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy facility at the Nottingham Nanotechnology and Nanoscience Centre (NNNC) successfully defended her PhD thesis last week.
She has been a part-time student, working with Professor Rob Jones, for more years than she cares to remember! Her thesis work on “XPS of ionic liquids” made extensive use of the state of the art facilities at Nottingham.
