Robert Ficken Scholarships

The Scholarships

Robert Ficken graduated in chemistry from the University of Nottingham in 1963 and went on to found two highly successful specialist chemical companies.  The purpose of this highly prestigious award is to encourage the study of chemistry at undergraduate level.  The award is given annually to the most outstanding male UK applicant and female UK applicant admitted to study chemistry at the University of Nottingham.

Value

Two awards, each of £1000, will be given annually to one male and one female candidate.

Eligibility

All Year 1 students from the UK who commence their study in Chemistry (UCAS course codes F100, F101, F103 or F105) at the University of Nottingham will be automatically considered for the scholarships.  The award is contingent on students being registered at The University of Nottingham.

Selection

The two recipients of the award will be decided annually by a panel of staff from the School of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham.  Selection criteria will include the overall academic record of each candidate up to the time of their UCAS application.
