Jack Newsinger's Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funding success

Congratulations to our colleague Jack Newsinger whose application for funding for an AHRC Standard Grant has been successful.

This is a three-year project (total value £950k) led by Professor Helen Wood at Lancaster to investigate duties of care in the UK’s reality television production sector, continuing the work of a 2019 Parliamentary Enquiry. It is partnered with all the major broadcasters and trade Unions in the sector, and with the media regulator Ofcom. As Co-I, Newsinger's role is to investigate working practices in reality television in association with the trade union Bectu.

The Nottingham part of the project is based at the Institute for Screen Industries Research (ISIR) and builds on the 2019 project ‘Locked Down and Locked Out: The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mothers working in the UK television industry’.
